Bloomsbury
Despite its central London location, Bloomsbury neighbourhood has all the perks of village life: quiet streets, peaceful green spaces and nooks of independent traders. Brimming with history, elegant Georgian townhouses, pretty garden squares, iconic museums, theatres, shops and eateries - but it's the gardens of Bloomsbury that mark the seasons. The first snowdrops and crocuses of spring, golden leaves in autumn and crisp orange sunrises in winter. In summer the benches fill with people having breakfast, the fountains are on and Caffé Tropea is buzzing. Poetic and inspiring - the scents of the seasons flow throughout the green spaces and the museums, publishing, fashion, science, and food all coexisting. Store Street feels like a European street scene, the people enjoying food and drinks outside - families, friends, locals. The literary scene conjures aromas of a storied past: the building once occupied by Faber & Faber where TS Eliot worked, Mary Wollstonecraft lived on Store Street, Dillons Bookshop that grew into the Waterstones on Gower Street, J.K. Rowling and the writers of Bloomsbury Group such as Virginia Woolf & E. M. Forster.
